Historical Society to host Constitution Week display.
The Bedford County Historical Society has partnered with the Bedford Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution to bring a display in celebration of the 235th anniversary of the Constitution of the United States. The display will begin on September 17 and continue through Constitution Week, ending on September 23. The hours of the Bedford County Historical Society on Tuesday through Friday are 9 a.m.-4 p.m. each day.
On September 17, plan to attend the reading of the Constitution on the public square in Bedford at 10 a.m. and then come and join the celebration from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Historical Society at 6641 Lincoln Highway in Bedford. There will be free American Flags, Pocket Constitutions, Pledge of Allegiance bookmarks, lapel flag pins, and of course Constitution cookies for snacks.
Egolf Park to hold yard sale.
A Community Yard Sale will be held at Egolf Park on Friday, September 30 from 8:30 a.m.-6 p.m. For more information or to set up a space, contact Cheryl at 703-409-5351 or by email to lacyne57@yahoo.com.
Weather permitting, the Bedford Township Municipal Authority will flush the water distribution system along Sweet Root Road, Back Springs Road and Topsiders area, weather permitting, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily Sept. 19 through Sept. 21. Customers may experience cloudy water and a slight pressure fluctuation.
Veterans to be honored with picnic.
Bedford County Veterans Appreciation picnic will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 30 at the Bedford American Legion.
Bedford County Pink Ribbon Fund will host a Rock-A-Thon from 9 to 11 a.m. Oct. 15 on the porch of the Fort Bedford Inn at the corner of Richard and Penn streets in Bedford. Register to by texting 814-494-5761.
Life Chain set for Oct. 2.
Annual Bedford County Life Chain will take place Oct. 2 from 2:30 to 3:30 pm. Signs may be picked up at the Bedford Elementary School parking lot beginning at 2 p.m. The Life Chain will stretch along Business Route 220 from the elementary school to St. Thomas Catholic Church at the corner of Penn and Richard streets. Life Chain is a peaceful and prayerful public witness of pro-life Americans standing in honor of 63 million lives lost to abortion, organizers said. Bottled water, lawn chairs, umbrellas and strollers are welcome. For more information, call 839-4806.
